MEET RIXON & CASSANDRA

​Rixon and Cassandra are a young couple to be married this fall who are pursuing farming in the Shenandoah Valley. The pair met in high school and attended James Madison University together. Early on, their love of animals, admiration for life rooted in the land, and appreciation for hard work sowed the seeds for their hope of a farm life. While at JMU, they grew in their desire to work closely with the natural world through agriculture. Cassandra first met Eric through his Sustainable Agriculture class at JMU and was grateful to begin working for him soon after: helping to renovate the barn, manage pasture, and build & repair fence. Over the past few years, she has also worked with sheep, chickens, hogs, flowers, and vegetables at various family farms. Rixon’s primary farm experience is with vegetables, though he has also helped out with projects at Starview Farms. Currently, Rixon and Cassandra are working towards securing a plot of land where they plan to raise beef cattle and laying hens for the 2026 Fairfax Market, continuing in the same high-quality care Starview Farms is known for. For now, these two will work a portion of the 2025 market weekends to ease their way into filling Starview Farms’ role with their own farm down the road. Come on down and “meat” Rixon and Cassandra!
